E-Commerce Agency
for the FMCG Industry
We build online stores and wholesale platforms for FMCG manufacturers and distributors.
Challenges in the FMCG Industry
The barriers we hear about most often from our clients:
Despite the barriers, the industry holds enormous potential:
the value of the global FMCG market in 2024 — one of the world’s largest and most resilient sectors
projected annual growth (CAGR) of the global e-grocery segment through 2029 — faster than the overall e-commerce market
of B2B leaders say online sales are here to stay — and keep investing in their platforms
How We Support the FMCG Industry
Translating business requirements into technology
What Must a Modern B2B Platform for the FMCG Industry Offer?
Examples of the features we build for your industry
-
Product Variants
FMCG products usually come in many versions — different flavors, weights, and pack formats (e.g. one drink in several flavors and sizes). Instead of creating a separate product page for each one, it’s better to use variants — the customer picks flavor and size directly from a single page. This shortens the buying process and keeps the catalog tidy, which matters enormously when you have hundreds of SKUs.
-
Advanced Pricing Policies
Wholesale in FMCG means differentiated terms — one set of prices for retail chains, another for distributors, and yet another for smaller stores. The platform lets you create separate customer groups, assign individual price lists, and set automatic discount thresholds based on volume. Every partner sees their real prices as soon as they log in — no phone calls or negotiations on every order.
-
Fast, Repeat Ordering
Stores and wholesalers regularly reorder the same, repeatable assortment. Instead of searching for it from scratch, once logged in the user sees a list of their most frequently purchased items along with their order history, and can repeat an entire restock in a single click. With FMCG’s fast rotation, that’s a real time saving and a lower risk of missing an item.
-
Backorders
With fast rotation and seasonal demand spikes, temporary shortages are inevitable. Backorders let customers place an order even when a given product is momentarily out of stock. That way they don’t abandon the cart — they simply wait for delivery, confident it will be fulfilled. It’s an effective way to keep the customer and avoid them migrating to a competitor.
-
Shopping Lists
Chains and multi-location customers plan restocking separately for different outlets or categories, but order in bulk. Shopping lists let different people build separate sets of products that then land in a shared cart with a single click. It’s simpler and less error-prone than gathering orders in spreadsheets.
-
Automated Deposit-Return (DRS) Handling
In a growing number of markets, beverage and packaged-goods brands are covered by mandatory deposit-return schemes (DRS) on returnable packaging (bottles, cans). On wholesale orders, settling deposits manually can grind operations to a halt. An automated mechanism integrated with the cart recognizes the products covered by the rules and adds the correct deposit value to the order, displaying it clearly to the customer. That means full regulatory compliance, no hidden costs for the buyer, and real time savings for the accounting team.
-
Substitutes
A product out of stock? Instead of losing the order, offer the customer a substitute — a replacement with similar properties, or another variant from the same brand. With fast rotation and short shelf lives, substitutes help keep restocking uninterrupted and stop the cart from going to a competitor.
-
Business Partner Verification
Registration on the B2B platform can be made significantly simpler by pulling company data automatically from the VAT or business registration number. The customer doesn’t have to fill in every field manually, and you can be sure you’re serving verified entities that are entitled to buy at wholesale.

FAQ

We combine FMCG expertise with e-Commerce know-how. We build B2B platforms and online stores that mirror real wholesale processes — customer groups, discount thresholds, repeatable restocking, and ERP integrations. For the DZIK brand, we implemented a modern B2B platform on Magento 2 with a Hyvä frontend, a dedicated Comarch XL integrator, and automated deposit-return (DRS) handling.
Because on Magento you fit the process to the business, not the other way around. “Boxed” (SaaS) systems have a closed feature set — the complex B2B logic of FMCG (individual price lists per customer group, deposit-return handling, a sales-rep panel, deep ERP integration) often simply can’t be reproduced in them. On top of that, subscription fees usually grow with your turnover and order volume, which can get very expensive in low-margin, high-volume FMCG. Magento (open source) removes those limits and doesn’t “tax” your sales.
A bespoke system gives you flexibility, but at the cost of vendor lock-in — you depend on a single team that alone knows your code, and the entire burden of maintenance, security, and development falls on you. Magento is the middle ground: full freedom to model processes as you would in a custom build, but on a proven, standard engine with a huge community and thousands of developers. The code is yours, there are thousands of ready-made modules, and you can switch agency or team at any time — you’re nobody’s hostage.
Handling thousands of SKUs and fast rotation, multi-tier pricing and discount policies for chains, distributors, and smaller stores, repeatable restocking (shopping lists, order history), temporary stockouts (backorders/reservations), deposit-return (DRS) compliance, and integrations with ERP/WMS/PIM.
We implement an automated deposit mechanism integrated with the cart — based on defined rules, it recognizes the products covered by deposit-return legislation and adds the correct deposit value to the order, displaying it clearly to the customer. This takes manual reconciliation off the accounting team’s plate and guarantees compliance with no hidden costs for the buyer. We also adapt the environment to the current regulatory requirements in your markets.
ERP systems (e.g. Comarch XL, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics), WMS/TMS, PIM (Akeneo/Ergonode), B2B payment gateways, and BI and analytics tools. For DZIK, we built a bespoke, two-way Comarch XL integrator from scratch — with none of the “glass ceilings” typical of off-the-shelf plugins.
We automate recurring orders and shopping lists, implement pricing rules and customer groups, add promotional models (e.g. free gifts in the cart that lift AOV), improve search and attribute filters, and give customers self-service plus a sales-rep panel — so reps move from manually entering orders into an advisory role.
We most often recommend Magento for complex B2B in FMCG, but we match the platform to the process and the IT ecosystem. We also deliver on Shopify, PrestaShop, and Shopware — depending on scale and requirements.
It depends on the scope of integrations and requirements. We usually start with an MVP (critical processes + key integrations) and then expand the scope iteratively, with no disruption to sales. For reference: the full B2B platform rollout for DZIK, from the discovery phase to go-live, took roughly 11 months.
